Trips and Visits

At BBG Academy we strive to provide students with the opportunity to participate in trips which give them the opportunity to experience various cultures, develop their interpersonal skills and provide them with memory building experiences.

Year 7 Camp (UK)

As part of our transition programme all students in year 7 have the opportunity to attend a three day, two night compulsory Resilience Camp at the start of September. This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their interpersonal skills, build relationships with both their peers and staff, an opportunity to practice new skills, as well as demonstrating how resilient they can be. Students focus on a range of activities from problem solving to rifle shooting and axe throwing.

 Year 7 Camp (France)

As part of their progression into year 8 students are offered the opportunity to attend a residential in the south of France. Students again camp but this time for 7 days. Whilst in France we look to stretch and challenge the students through a variety of activities from cycling to kayaking 32KM’s down the Ardeche.  Although these activities may seem demanding there is plenty of downtime where students get the opportunity to immerse themselves in French culture with trips to the local markets and of course the opportunity to buy ice creams.

London

Students have the opportunity to participate in a two-day activity packed performing arts trip to London. While in London students not only experience the sights of the big city, they also visit the Science Museum, take a tour of The Harry Potter Studio’s and immerse themselves in a West End Theatre Show.

Skiing

As part of our Applied Resilience curriculum students have the opportunity to learn to ski at our local Indoor Skiing resort. In order to give these students, and any other student who is interested in skiing, an opportunity to hone their skills on a mountain range we offer a ski trip to various skiing destination. This is a superb opportunity to enjoy a healthy, physical activity in a new outdoor environment and will help your child to build self-confidence, experience a new culture and gain a real sense of achievement.

As well as our residential trips we also offer a variety of day trips that are linked to our curriculum such as visiting Flamborough Head to look at the rock formations in Geography or Thackray Museum of Medicine for History.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of different rewards trips such as Alton Towers or a team meal out to Frankie and Benny’s.

We have also been very fortunate and taken groups of students to Ypres and been honoured to participate in the WW1 Centenary parade.
