Trips and Visits
At BBG Academy, we are committed to offering students enriching trips that allow them to experience diverse cultures, enhance their interpersonal skills, and create lasting memories.
Year 7 Resilience Camp
As part of our Year 7 transition programme, all students attend a UK-based resilience camp for two nights and three days. For the past three years, this has been held at Great Tower Scout Camp in Windermere. The experience provides an excellent opportunity for students to build positive relationships with both staff and peers while creating lasting memories.
Students take part in a range of Outdoor Adventurous Activities designed to develop emotional, cognitive, and physical resilience. Activities include axe throwing, raft building, archery, hiking up Gunners How fell, and many more. The visit concludes with a campfire evening complete with a group sing-along.
The Great Yorkshire Show
Our students have the opportunity to visit the Great Yorkshire Show, one of the country’s leading agricultural events. The visit provided a valuable insight into the world of farming, food production, rural industries, and environmental sustainability. Throughout the day, students experienced live demonstrations, livestock exhibitions, interactive workshops, and displays showcasing the latest advancements in agriculture and technology. This enriching trip not only broadened their understanding of the UK’s agricultural heritage but also encouraged curiosity, hands-on learning, and an appreciation of the vital role these industries play in our everyday lives.
Theatre Trips
A wide range of theatre trips are offered across both English and Performing Arts, providing students with enriching experiences that extend far beyond the classroom. These visits allow students to engage directly with live performance, enhancing their understanding of drama, literature, and theatrical techniques. Academically, seeing professional productions deepens students’ appreciation of set texts, supports analysis and evaluation skills, and brings written work to life.
Ski Trip
Our students have the exciting opportunity to participate in biannual ski trips, with past adventures taking place in stunning locations such as Italy, Austria, and Slovenia. These trips offer something for everyone: experienced skiers can refine their technique, while beginners have the chance to try skiing for the very first time. It’s inspiring to watch students make rapid progress throughout the week. Beyond skiing, students can enjoy a variety of winter activities, including tobogganing and ice skating. The trips also provide a wonderful chance to embrace new cultures and sample local cuisine. From start to finish, these journeys create unforgettable memories and experiences that students cherish for years to come.
GCSE Geography Field Trip
Our GCSE Geography students take part in a field trip to the East Coast, visiting both Flamborough Head and Hornsea as part of their Physical Geography studies, which focus on understanding natural environments. Prior to the visit, students develop an enquiry question and corresponding hypotheses. During the trip, they collect primary data by measuring beach sediment and surveying evidence of coastal erosion.
This valuable experience allows students to apply the geographical theory learnt in the classroom to real-world environments, strengthening both their understanding and their fieldwork skills.
GCSE French Trip to Paris
Our GCSE French students have the exciting opportunity to visit Paris during Year 11, enriching their language studies through real-world cultural experiences. The trip includes visits to iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, a memorable river sightseeing cruise along the Seine, and an action-packed day at Parc Astérix. Throughout the visit, students are encouraged to use their French in authentic situations, helping them to develop their speaking and listening skills, build confidence, and deepen their understanding of French culture.
We have also been very fortunate to have taken groups of students to Ypres and been honoured to participate in the WW1 Centenary parade.
